Plot:
The notorious bandleader Pepè le Mokò, who has his headquarters in the Algerian Kasbah, is killed in a gunfight with the police. His succession is offered to one of his close relatives, Totò, a Neapolitan itinerant musician who dreamed precisely of being able to lead a musical band. The offer to lead a band, which he believes to be musical, sends him into raptures. Arriving in Algiers, he wants to conduct a concert in the major hotel, but the band he directs is actually a gang of thugs so the police corner him and force him to flee. During a police raid on the Kasbah, Totò, frightened, pours a miraculous lotion on his head, which makes him bold: he becomes the idol of the Kasbah but to please the beloved maiden he will have to fight to the death. A jealous lover during the night cuts off his hair, thus taking away all his courage.
