Roman Tales: The loan
The little street where Otello (Antonio Cifariello) asks his fiancée Marcella (Giovanna Ralli) for a loan of 25,000 lire for a new work project (given the woman's refusal, the dialogue will end amid insults and insults) is via del Velabro in Rome. On the right we see the Arch of Janus and in the background the church San Giorgio al Velabro.

Plot:
Alvaro Latini leaves Regina Coeli prison. His mother and wife greet him with coldness and fear. Quite different, however, is the reception of three young men from the ward, fishmonger Otello, waiter Mario and barber boy Spartaco, who regard Alvaro as their leader. In fact, Alvaro, who claims to have had extensive experience in jail, proposes a series of activities that will lead the young heroes to the threshold of prison. We thus follow the four friends in their attempt to make money for the funds needed to purchase a truck, with which to start a serious transportation business. Finally, dealing in fake ten-thousand-lira tickets, the four friends end up in jail, from which only the understanding of a marshal saves them, who releases them into freedom. At this point Alvaro's wife, Otello's and Mario's girlfriends, and Spartaco's relatives intervene, calling the four daredevils back to their duty in peremptory terms, and the cunning losers realize that the best way to establish themselves in life is to work honestly.
