Plot:
Carmelo Mardocheo (Giannini), a Sicilian laborer, finds work in Turin, takes a lover (Melato) who gives him a son. Back in his native Catania, he learns that, by a financier, his wife is pregnant. He avenges the affront by seducing his voluminous spouse. Having killed the brigadier by a mobster, he finds himself with three dependent children. To support them he serves as an election gofer for a mob boss.
The movie directed by Lina Wertmuller in 1972, won the same year the David Donatello for best actor (Giannini) and the subsequent year two Silver Ribbons, for Best Actor (Giannini) and Best Actress (Melato).
