Plot:
The great melancholy film, directed by Giuseppe M. Gaudino, with Valeria Golino (Volpi Cup Best Actress). Anna was a swaggering and courageous child. Today, she is an "unaware" woman, in her Naples, who for 20 years has stopped seeing what is really going on in her family, preferring not to take sides, suspended between Good and Evil. Out of love for her three children and family, she let her life fade away, slowly. Until she convinced herself that she is a "little thing." Her life is so gray that she no longer sees colors, although at work - she is a "prompter" in a TV studio - she is appreciated and loved, and this fills her with pride. Anna has innate gifts in helping others, but she does not employ them for herself. She never finds the words or the opportunity to give herself help. When at last, after years of precariousness, she is able to get a steady job, her enfranchisement from this state begins. Also from her husband, of whom she finally decides to free herself. From that day she faces the many fears that have been dormant over the years, such as that of looking out onto the balcony facing the sea...Because she knows that that sea is an oracle for her. The sea the only element still untainted by her gray gaze.
