Caliber 9: The exchange
With the fall of the Fascism, on 25 July 1943, a revolt took place in San Vittore, fiercely repressed by the military authority that had begun to direct public order. During the second period of the war, between September 1943 and April 1945, the prison of San Vittore was subject in large part to the jurisdiction of the SS. After occupying Milan on 12 September 1943, the SS took possession of the prison, controlling and managing three of its six prison rays, namely the IV and VI ray for political prisoners and the V ray for Jews, also known as the circle of the hanged, the infernal circle and the cursed ray. From this moment on, the prison of San Vittore will serve as a provincial concentration camp for Jews, and will act as a gathering place for the deportation of all those arrested in the largest cities in the North such as Genoa and Turin or those arrested on the border with Switzerland.
