Plot:
After September 8, '43, the Fascist party in Ferrara tightened its ranks, but was torn between two different tendencies, that of the moderate federal Bolognesi and that of the fanatical Aretusi, who had the former assassinated and, attributing the crime to anti-fascists, unleashed a violent reprisal, having eleven hostages shot. But time erases many things. The son of one of the victims, Franco, who fled to Switzerland, returns to Ferrara after 18 years and meeting Aretusi shakes his hand cordially. From the short story by Giorgio Bassani. Grolla d'Oro 1961 and Special Prize at Venice 1960 for director Vancini.
