The hospital in Luino where Evelina Andreoletti (Maestri) died in childbirth is not actually located in Luino and is not even a hospital. It is the headquarters of the Prefecture and the Province of Varese, alias Villa Recalcati, located in Piazza Libertà 1 in Varese.

PLOT
Augusto Vanghetta is the magistrate of a small town on Lake Maggiore who has not shared the marital bed with his wife, Evelina, for years, but frequents almost all the local women. To cultivate his passion for the theater, Augusto hires a young lawyer, Mario Landriani, whom he even welcomes into his home.
