PLOT
The thief Totò--under the false guise of a certain Dr. Tanzarella--is introduced by Ernesto to his wife Silvia to justify an overly prolonged absence under the pretext of meeting an old comrade-in-arms. Totò thus manages to get himself invited to a banquet to be held at the villa of Ernesto's in-laws in honor of a minister: it is his intention on that occasion to steal the gold cutlery service. The politician ends up being believed to be the thief of the cutlery, and for the sake of his career, Ernesto blames himself for the theft ... Having cleared up all the misunderstandings, to which are added multiple jealousies and love rivalries, Totò skillfully takes possession of the cutlery and walks away amidst the obsequiousness of all, since he is believed, in his guise as Dr. Tanzarella, to be Mussolini's doctor.
