PLOT
Antoinette, a beautiful girl from a modest family, discovers her own effigy on the cover of a magazine: the pose in which the photographer, unbeknownst to her, has shot her, is quite unscrupulous. Her fiancé would like to sue the photographer; but he tells her that he has launched, by means of the photographs, many girls, who have become models and film divas. Antoinette is persuaded by the young Corrado's unscrupulous eloquence, has a series of photographs taken of her in her bathing suit, and then spends a night with him. In reality, the two young people begin to be mutually in love with each other; but Corrado does not want to confess this even to himself and plays the cynic to pose. Antoinette, to provoke him, making him jealous, allows herself to be courted by Count Senetti, who specializes in throwing “stars.” The latter teaches her manners, lets her borrow luxury clothes and goes so far as to give her a mink fur coat. Corrado begins to be jealous, all the more so because Antoinette gives him exaggerated tales, magnifying his adventures and promised fortunes. Antoinette asks the count to marry her, and he promises; but, at a luncheon, she is confronted by Senetti's lawful wife and is forced to return the fur coat as well. It is a painful, but salutary disappointment, which induces her to give up that world, which is not for her.
