Passion of Love: Initial monologue by Captain Giorgio Bacchetti

The barracks of Captain Giorgio Bacchetti (Bernard Giraudeau) are in Piazza San Giovanni in Turin, also known as the Piazza del Duomo. The entrance to the barracks opens onto Piazza San Giovanni and is Palazzo Chiablese, the former home of the Cinema Museum.

PLOT: 
In the exhausting mists of autumn, on the border of the Alps, amidst the neighing of horses and the drumming of their hooves on stony paths and the stupid jokes of the officers of a remote garrison, the ugly Fosca manages to make a young captain fall in love with her and bequeaths to him, after a violent and destructive passion, her illness, her unhappiness as a lonely and outraged creature.
