Run for your wife: Goodbyes
The street where Riccardo's car (UgoTognazzi) is trapped in bicycle traffic is Via Giuseppe Mazzini, in Magenta (MI). The Fratelli Mazzetti shoe factory where Riccardo works is fictionally located in Magenta. Still, in reality, it was located in Viale Piemonte 1 in Mesero (Milan), where today there is a Tigros supermarket.
PLOT:
Riccardo, a resigned employee of a shoe factory in Magenta, is determined to take the opportunity of a business trip to New York to turn his life around. He intends to marry any American woman to settle down in the United States, as one of his more enterprising friends has done. Thus begins Riccardo's frantic search for the woman who will enable him to realize his purpose. A gallery of disturbing and unusual female characters thus parades by his side; from the evil wife of a rocket scientist to the multi-divorced Texan billionaire, from the nonchalant drug-dealing minor to the amoral hostess of Italian origin, up to the latest casual acquaintance: a young divorcee full of quality and poise, who would be inclined to marry Riccardo if the latter, inadvertently, did not exaggerate his ex-wife's merits too much in the eyes of her still-loving husband, thus unintentionally favoring their rapprochement. Time is running out and Riccardo, by now tried by so many disappointments, but still determined in his purpose, would agree to marry a girl of easy virtue if she did not have very different plans. Defeated, Riccardo returns to Italy where a grey existence awaits him.
